Youth Business International is seeking for a motivated individual to join our small, dynamic communications team at the heart of YBI’s growing, global network. With several exciting new partnerships and initiatives around the global network, we are focused on delivering a step change in our profile and positioning. The Communications Assistant will play a key role in making this happen.

Established in 2000, YBI brings together organisations with aligned goals to develop and scale the most effective solutions to the critical challenges facing young entrepreneurs and catalyse positive change in entrepreneurship culture.

Since 2014 we have supported over 95,000 young people to start or grow a business by delivering a range of practical entrepreneurship support services, from guiding a young person to register a new business and improving their bookkeeping skills to helping them write a business plan or grow their fledgling business through facilitating access to finance.

Our 51 members in 48 countries are diverse, ranging from training organisations, microfinance institutions, mentoring specialists to business associations and incubators.  Locally rooted and locally led, members combine deep contextual knowledge with YBI’s sector-leading global expertise and tools.

Role Overview

Working closely with the Director of Learning and Influence, the Digital Communications Manager and the Digital Community Manager, the Communications Assistant will write and edit a range of content for online and offline channels, support the production of communications materials and support the delivery of communications campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

Communications content production

  • Write and edit a range of materials, including case studies, news stories, blogs, learning papers and funder reports
  • Support social media activity across YBI’s platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube) and compile analytics
  • Support compilation of YBI’s bi-monthly newsletter
  • Ensure all our communications materials are consistent with the YBI brand and core messaging

Content collection and management

  • Liaise with members of the YBI network around the world to source stories, images, video and other content and share this via YBI’s website and online Community
  • Provide guidance to members on generating strong and compelling content
  • Ensure all appropriate consents are gathered and that content is managed in compliance with YBI policies and external regulations, including GDPR)

Communications team support

  • Support the delivery of online communications campaigns relating to key events and themes
  • Carry out research to support content planning
  • Contribute to team planning and development of team systems and processes, including setting up a database of suppliers
  • Support the team with the planning and delivery of events
  • Additional Communications Assistant and admin duties as and when required
