Youth Business International is looking for a dynamic and confident Development Assistant (Partnerships and Programmes) to work in its London office to support the Development Team. This is an exciting new role, perfect for an ambitious person wanting to develop a fundraising or Programme development career in international development. This role will allow you to develop your research abilities, fundraising skills, programme development knowledge, planning and understanding of international NGOs. The person we are looking for will have strong interpersonal skills, be highly organised and able to see work through to completion.

About YBI

Youth Business International (YBI) is the global network of expert organisations in over 50 countries supporting underserved young entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into successful businesses, creating jobs and strengthening communities.

Young people are a critical resource. However, with 66 million young people currently unemployed across the world, this potential is not being realised. Furthermore, of those that are working, many do not earn enough to lift themselves out of poverty. Thus, addressing the youth employment crisis is imperative, not only for the well-being of young people but also to ensure sustainable, inclusive growth and social cohesion globally.

Over the last three years (2015 - 2017), the YBI network has supported 175,445 young people with entrepreneurship training and helped 64,637 young people to start or grow a business. In total, 427,402 young people have been engaged through outreach activities.

You will work across the YBI Network Team and with members around the globe on a range of projects. Maintaining our reputation as a leading global network requires a highly skilled, knowledgeable, energetic team to manage our internal business functions. Background to the role

The Development team is evolving and will be now be managing both our funding partnerships and our programme development. As a result we are looking for someone to support the team in their delivery whilst also learning and evolving their skills. This post will be integral to the team’s success with a varied portfolio of work. It is an exciting time to join the team as it evolves and grows in strength.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a desire to develop their skills, be a team player and support the Development team. The successful candidate will be involved with:

  • Research on both donors to allow us to explore opportunities where we are aligned and can develop exciting and sustainable partnerships;
  • Research into programmatic approaches to support the team to develop the most relevant and vital programmes;
  • Bid development through the generation of proposals to UK trusts and foundations;
  • Managing the pipeline database to ensure it is up to date and relevant;
  • Attending sector meetings to develop knowledge of best practice, to promote YBI, and to cultivate new donor opportunities;
  • Contributing to the development of annual plans and budgets;
  • Supporting the work of the team to deliver with an opportunity to develop new skills.

About you

You will excel in and enjoy working within and across the teams in our London and Bogotá office. You will have communication, research skills and understand the importance of relationship building.  You will have a desire to grow and develop your skills. Enthusiastic and driven, you will be well organised and dynamic.
