An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and engaging communications professional ready for a new challenge. As Digital Content and Communications Manager, your principal responsibility will be to increase the quality, reach and impact of YBI’s content across multiple digital platforms, including social media. This role is instrumental in achieving our ambition to strengthen the Communications function within our organisation and increasing its visibility in the international development and entrepreneurship context.

Role Overview

Collaborating with colleagues across YBI you will agree briefs and use your skills to create a range of assets including editing video footage received from our members into on-brand public facing videos, creating branded social media cards and infographics to explain our impact, designing on-brand publications and newsletters among other tasks.

You will manage the performance of our digital channels (website and all social media), analyzing performance and making strategic recommendations to increase visits, views, engagement and impressions. Working within the Communications team and across organisation including our members you will plan messages and output to drive activity and increase YBI’s reach and engagement with our target audiences.

To thrive in this role, you will need to be a great communicator with excellent digital, creative and production skills, who loves telling stories and presenting data and content in innovative ways online. You will have a keen eye for brand alignment and clear messaging, as well as brilliant organisational skills, boundless creativity and an entrepreneurial, “can do” approach.

Key Responsibilities

1. Social media

  • Develop and implement a digital communications strategy liaising with colleagues in the comms team to align around key messages
  • Develop and implement social media communications campaigns around key milestones and ensure tracked links to map traffic
  • Using free and low-budget tool and products track and analyse social media engagement, making suggestions for improvement
  • Regularly review and update social media protocols
  • Creation of regular social media posts to engage YBI’s audiences, participate in relevant conversations in our ecosystems and harness opportunities of external news events and social media moments

2. Website and web content

  • Day-to-day management of the website, including uploading and reviewing content, and liaising with web developers to fix bugs as they arise
  • Track and analyse website traffic, producing monthly report and making suggestions for improvement
  • Manage the design, creation and editing of regular content for the YBI website
  • Develop and implement SEO strategy to maximize visits to YBI’s website

3. Content creation and story gathering

  • Plan creative content for social media channels, member events, publications, and partnership communications
  • Lead on the creation of assets in-house using production and design software including infographics, short videos, social media cards, reports, and other creative content
  • Storyboard and edit simple videos to tell the stories of the young entrepreneurs supported by the network
  • Lead the creation of a tagged and accessible image and content library that adheres to consent policies
  • Commission production and design agencies for larger projects as needed

4. Brand & publications

  • Lead on brand guardianship, acting as day-to-day lead on the style guide
  • Lead the management of creative process for publications content, ensuring it is on-brand, accessible
  • Create well designed think pieces and short learning papers (copy provided from other departments) to be published online
  • Create a suite of brand assets to be used internally, e.g. logos suitable for different channels, PowerPoint and report templates

5. Other responsibilities

  • Represent YBI at events and in the media as required
  • Attend and support SMT, staff and cross-team meetings
  • Any other reasonable duty consistent with the responsibilities of the post as requested by your manager or a member of the YBI SMT
