Over the last 3 years M-UP, a COSME funded network for organisations working to support migrant entrepreneurs, has held workshops, webinars and other peer learning activities where the importance of mentoring has been continually highlighted as integral in successfully supporting migrants to start and sustain their own businesses.
Youth Business International, as one of the consortium leads in M-UP, would love to meet with representatives of DG Employment, DG GROW and DG Home and others connected with the European Commission as we advocate for a pan-European movement to establish high quality, impactful mentoring support programmes for migrant entrepreneurs and other minority groups in the entrepreneurship space; leading to more sustainable businesses, offering a direct response to the COVID-19 crisis and fostering social integration.
Professor Robert Garvey – one of Europe’s leading academic practitioners of coaching and mentoring and an experienced coach/mentor. Bob has published many papers and books on the practice of coaching and mentoring and is a member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council.
Guillem Aris – CEO and Founder at M-UP Consortium Member Autoocupació, a non-profit organisation supporting entrepreneurs in Catalonia, Spain. Guillem has been responsible for the strategy development and implementation of a highly successful mentoring program for young entrepreneurs in Spain, seeing a business survival rate of 87% after 5 years.
Joerg Schoolman – Head of Mentoring at Youth Business International (YBI), a global network working with organisations supporting entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 35 through mentoring, alongside entrepreneurship training, access to finance and other business development support services. At YBI, Joerg is leading on supporting a brilliant community of mentoring experts globally with the aim to design, test, implement and scale innovative solutions in mentoring.
