Helping young people through the COVID-19 crisis is crucial as the pandemic has disproportionately affected young people and women. Many were forced to quickly react or risk failure.

Youth Business International (YBI) with support from Google.org and Accenture, leveraged their 20 years of experience and with 70 members and delivery partners across 65 countries rapidly responded to meet the needs of entrepreneurs. YBI adapted and scaled their existing services, as well as added new services and ways of working to their approach. This has led to YBI reaching over 130,000 entrepreneurs during the pandemic, to help them protect their businesses.

Join us for a panel conversation with Anita Tiessen, CEO of Youth Business International, Marija Ralic, Lead of APAC for Google.org, and Roshni Venkatesh, Global Giving portfolio lead of Accenture. The speakers will showcase how their organisations support young entrepreneurs, share key findings of the COVID-19 Rapid Response and Recovery, and emphasize the importance of digital acceleration to create impact at scale. The Rapid Response and Recovery Initiative was announced in April 2020 and was awarded a US$5 million grant by Google.org. The grant is currently supporting over 200,000 underserved micro, small and medium-sized businesses in 32 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific to sustain livelihoods and support communities.

The session will also be joined by young entrepreneur Neelima Tippavajhala, Co-Founder and CEO of Cocotang, India, supported by YBI member Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST), who will share the reality of how the pandemic has affected her business and how the support given by YBI and their partners have allowed her business to survive and thrive in the wake of COVID-19.

We look forward to your participation!
