Yo Quiero Yo Puedo is a Mexican non-governmental organisation that works with marginalised and vulnerable populations in Mexico, facilitating the process by which each individual can become an agent of change. Their mission is to improve economic opportunities for vulnerable men and women by generating ventures/entrepreneurship that allow them to increase their income levels.
Aiming to liberate individual potential for social development, Yo Quiero Yo Puedo works in education, health, citizenship and productivity to empower individuals to improve their behaviours in relation to their wellbeing, and so becoming agents of change of their lives, families, and communities, thereby generating socially and economically sustainable human development.
They support the development of skills and knowledge in teachers, health care providers, and/or community promoters for their own development so that they can replicate these with target populations. All their programs have a focus on gender justice. The Yo quiero, yo puedo programmes are based in life skills (e.g. decision-making, communication, problem-solving, self-knowledge, emotions) and the reduction of psychosocial barriers (shame, fear, and guilt). They work closely with governments so that successful programs can be scaled-up once proven.
"When I first started out I did not understand the word “entrepreneur.” I was afraid I would not be able to do it, especially as I did not feel ready or confident enough to start a business on my own."View story
