As a global organisation with members and friends across the world, we are deeply saddened by the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. Our immediate priority is to find ways to quickly support those affected.
We have always known that our community of members and the young entrepreneurs they work with are dynamic and resilient. In this time of crisis, we’re proud and inspired to see the entrepreneurial mindset turn towards collective action for those affected by war. Youth Business Poland, together with 47 other organizations from the start-up community, have joined forces through PAH (Polish Humanitarian Action). Their aim is to give the necessary and urgent support to help Ukrainians arriving in Poland find a job, develop companies, or move their business from Ukraine to a safe place, where they will be able to earn money for themself and their families and live with dignity. Longer-term we are also increasingly concerned about the catastrophic consequences this war will have on livelihoods and in particular youth unemployment. When acute humanitarian needs have been met it’s crucial that those affected are supported to work and become self-reliant. At YBI we have developed methodologies which will be effective in helping these young people build businesses, boost employment and contribute to inclusive economies.
Will be working with our teams and our Network to ensure that we are ready to support young people affected by this crisis to rebuild their lives. We will also be convening our European members to ensure that refugees arriving across Europe can turn to YBI for specialist support and guidance to help them secure incomes.
